By cash at the beginning of each session, or by bank transfer/cheque with payments clearing into my account the day prior to each session.

Holidays/sickness/cancellation policy

Reasonable holiday breaks are accepted, with prior agreement, at no additional cost. If you need to cancel an appointment for any reason, please notify me 48 hours in advance or a charge may be incurred. Missed appointments are payable at the usual fee.

Number and duration of sessions

How many sessions will I need?

I offer long-term, short-term, open-ended and time-limited therapy working with clients to mutually agree what we think will work best for them. A client may decide to come for a few sessions to gain some clarity and focus, or they may want to work at a deeper level and have support as they explore their concerns, put their worries and fears into perspective, and work to feel better able to cope/in more control of their life. Whatever you choose we will work together to agree how many sessions are right for you so we know when counselling will come to an end. I will work alongside you for as long as you find the work useful and supportive.

How long does each session last and how often would I have to come?

Counselling usually works best when you attend sessions weekly. Each session lasts 50 minutes and they are usually at the same time every week, (although I am happy to negotiate additional sessions per week should you feel they will be helpful).

Location/Travel/Parking

My practice is located in Ewell Village near Epsom, in a dedicated room, providing a safe and comfortable environment with privacy. It is easily accessible by public transport, and there is a car park nearby. For a map, travel information and parking details, please click here.

What to expect in my counselling sessions

Initial session

Before committing to therapy, I offer an initial, no obligation session. This first session will give you the opportunity to experience therapy, to tell me about yourself, the worries you are experiencing, and what brings you to counselling – your needs and goals for therapy. It will help us to decide if we can work together and allow you to establish if you feel my approach to counselling meets your needs. If you do decide to continue working with me, we will agree on a time to meet weekly. The pace of the work will be determined by you.

Subsequent sessions

Following the initial session, should you wish to continue counselling with me we will agree a simple contract together, and then I will ask a few assessment questions so that I can get an overview of what your life is like for you. This will allow me to understand your world more quickly, and enable us to work better together. After this the focus of the sessions will be whatever is most important for you, the client – what you want to work on, or feel you need support with. I will work alongside you to help you bring about the changes you would like to see in their life, at a pace determined by you.

Review Sessions

I will hold regular review sessions during our time working together, which will enable both myself, and you, to reflect on how our sessions have been going, what you have found useful and what else you may like to work on.

My primary modality is person-centred therapy, which is a form of the humanistic approach. This means I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to healing. I, therefore, work to build trust, mutual respect and the desire to work in partnership during my sessions, showing empathy, a non-judgemental attitude, and positive regards as I support, respect and value my clients.

As a person-centred counsellor, the focus of the counselling in my sessions is whatever is most important for the client – what they want to work on, or what they feel they need support with. I work alongside my clients to help them bring about the changes they would like to see in their life, at a pace determined by them.

While primarily practicing person-centred therapy, I do also draw on aspects of other therapeutic perspectives, such as CBT, to tailor my approach to an individual client’s needs and provide support in a way that is individual to them.
