Because talking helps, and being heard matters
Hi, I'm Dawn Boultwood, a BACP-registered counsellor, offering online and telephone appointments from my office in Ewell Village, Epsom. Welcome to my website.
With our world changing daily because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the impact of our ‘new normal’ – including social distancing, health worries, bereavements and financial troubles – on top of our ‘everyday’ concerns can leave us feeling overwhelmed by life, alone, alienated, anxious and full of uncertainty. Talking to a trained professional can help us to process these emotions and make them feel more manageable. As the saying goes, talking helps.
I have worked with people who have come to therapy for many different reasons including: anxiety, panic attacks, stress, depression, low mood, low self-esteem, unwanted thoughts or fears, bereavement, fertility problems, relationship problems, work-related issues, accident/illness, and difficulty coping with a past event.
Please feel free to look through my website. If you require any further information, or would like to make an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sometimes life's difficulties / challenges can be overwhelming, all can seem hopeless, and we can feel anxious, stressed, alone, lost and depressed. Counselling gives us an opportunity to work alongside a trained professional who can help us to put our worries and fears into perspective, so that we can feel better able to cope and in more control of our life.
How I work
As a person-centred counsellor I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to healing. As such, I work together with my clients to build trust, mutual respect and the desire to work in partnership during our sessions. I do this in a caring, supportive, respectful and non-judgemental manner, to help my clients feel valued, reassured that our sessions together are confidential, and to help them feel safe and comfortable.

It can always be difficult to open up to someone you don't know but Dawn instantly made me feel at ease. She provided me with a warm, welcoming, safe space to work through some difficulties at my own pace. She is extremely professional but very friendly and I regularly left in higher spirits. I highly recommended. – E
When Dawn and I worked together she really listened to me and worked in the way that I needed. I felt very safe with Dawn and very heard. She offered me a space to be however I needed to be, and to offload. The biggest thing for me was feeling that Dawn gave me her attention, that she listened, that she understood, and that she valued me. Dawn was a real help to me at a time I really needed it. I'm doing a lot better now! – G
